Who We Are

WELCOME to our family’s seasonal newsletter! Here is a little introduction to who we are. We are a family of 11 (plus 12 pets). We are a mash up of the family-oriented Waltons, pioneer-loving Ingalls, and a dash of Mayberry. My husband is tall, dark, and handsome and a skilled musician as the cherry on top. I swoon whenever he starts singing and strumming on his ukulele. I am the pioneer heart of the family seeking to cultivate a slow-paced, lingering family culture in a busy world that always tries to steal my time and attention. Our children are a mixture of naturalists, creators, artists, cooks, bakers, readers, and explorers. We hope you will enjoy getting to know us through this quarterly newsletter and my weekly Substack posts.

Embracing the New Year!

This is the first year that I prayerfully considered my goals and resolutions for the upcoming year. In the past I have just gone with my own wishes when writing down future changes, but this year was different. 2025 was a year of major changes and 2026 will be a year of stability for us. I want to make the most of it and have been asking God to guide me in planning and prepping for the next twelve months. It was placed on my heart to follow the rhythm of the seasons in all of the main areas of our life: physical, spiritual, mental. We also have the underlying theme of health, both physically and financially. Lastly, this year is going to be one of strengthening our familial bonds in a deep way since this is the final year without teenagers. I know how crucial it is that we have deepened the connections between parents and children, and between siblings, before entering a new season of growth and development. As the year progresses, I will be sharing how these goals, themes and aspirations come to fruition.

A School Day in our Second Semester

Many have asked what a normal school day looks like for our family. While no two days are ever exactly alike, now that we are halfway through our school year we have found a rhythm.
